Lifelines

Lifelines is a City Hill initiative designed to share the amazing stories of some of the people living in Dubai.

Kim & Felix’s Story:

“You know when they say, “There’s a thin line between love and hate,” they were talking about Felix and me. I hated him all through university because he was so outspoken, extroverted and always in the limelight. I couldn’t stand people like that.”

 

“The funny thing was that I didn’t even know Kim when we were in university together! She was in the year below me and I had no idea who she was, let alone how much she disliked me back then.”

“But it’s all that hate and dislike I felt for him that eventually paved the way for me to fall in love with Felix.”

Pramod & Renu’s Story

“Pramod and I met while we were in university. He was in the year above me, already very popular as he was one of the best dancers and choreographers around. This was especially true among the girls, but from the day he saw me, he had a crush on me and started ragging me. Harmless things of course, like asking me to sing and dance and since ragging was a rite of passage in a university fresher’s life, I complied. But I was so sure it’s because he liked me that he went out of his way to pick on me. And I didn’t really mind because he came riding a cool motorbike!”

Enzo’s Story

“I am the first one in my entire family, the hierarchy, to leave the Philippines, and March 21st marked the completion of my first year in Dubai. Before I flew to Dubai, the longest time I had spent away from home was 4 days in total and it took me a while to get used to it, especially the heat in Dubai. I couldn’t believe that the weather could be this hot before I experienced it here! But yes, I have no regrets about coming to Dubai except maybe somedays, when the humidity takes a toll on my hair!
